Who they are
Discount Capital Limited (DCL) is an independent, Nairobi-based financial services company founded in 2013. They provide flexible trade finance solutions to SMEs across Kenya, including invoice discounting, cheque discounting, LPO financing, structured trade finance, asset leasing, and insurance premium financing. Their office is at International House on Mama Ngina Street, and their vision is to be the leading SME trade finance partner in East Africa.
The Challenge
Finance is a sector where credibility is currency. DCL had a powerful, innovative product offering and a track record of supporting hundreds of SMEs — but their website was not doing justice to that story. They needed a digital presence that would position them as the go-to funding partner for Kenyan entrepreneurs, clearly communicate complex financial products in accessible language, and make the pre-qualification and application process feel fast, transparent, and approachable.
Our Process
We started by simplifying the messaging. Trade finance terminology can be intimidating — our job was to make it feel empowering instead. We restructured the site’s information architecture around the customer’s journey: ‘Do you qualify? Here’s how it works. Here’s what you get.’ Each financing product received its own dedicated, clearly written page. We built in a prominent, clean online pre-qualification form (1-minute to complete, per their brand promise) and integrated a relationship-driven tone throughout the copy to reflect DCL’s commitment to assigning every client a dedicated relationship manager. The visual design was sharp, corporate, and confidence-inspiring — the look of a trusted financial institution.
The Outcome
DCL now has a website that converts. The clear product pages, streamlined pre-qualification flow, and authoritative design position them exactly where they want to be — as a sophisticated, trustworthy alternative to traditional banking. Prospective SME clients land on the site and immediately understand what’s on offer, what it costs, and how to get started.
